The first major donation came from J.S. Reddy Charities, which supported the hospital’s maintenance for up to 1 ½ years.
Later, Dr. Aruna Chandra Sekharan, a reputed Surgical Oncologist from Adayar Cancer Hospital, started the Surgical Department. The Operation Theatre, Surgical Wards, Pathology Lab, and necessary equipment like the X-Ray machine, Ultrasound machine, etc., were procured through donations from philanthropists.
One of the major donors, the Dodla Vardha Reddy & Rukminamma Charitable Trust, funded the construction of the Radiation Department building. The indigenous Cobalt machine and Simulator were installed with the help of the government, and radiotherapy services commenced in 2006 after being inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Garu, then the President of India.
Poor people began receiving cashless cancer treatment through government schemes. The Red Cross supported the hospital, and the outside medical fraternity referred patients and supported the hospital by providing services like CT Scans, MRIs, and tumor markers at subsidized rates.
